Preferred Pharmacy Solutions (PPS) was established in 2007. We employ over 100 talented and hard-working individuals. Collectively, we have several hundred years of experience with a well-trained staff of professionals who put the needs of our clients first and foremost. Our quality of service is unsurpassed in the industry, as evidenced by our testimonials and references.

We are the largest independent long term care pharmacy servicing all of New England. Our primary focus is not only servicing the needs of the senior population but also to preserve our clients’ financial resources. At PPS we provide you with cost containing protocols that are unique to the pharmacy. We are smaller than our competition which allows us to react quicker to your needs and the ever-changing industry.

PPS was founded by nursing home administrators, accountants and a long term care pharmacy owner with over 30 years of experience in the industry. These professionals identified a need for a LTC pharmacy that was not only sensitive to the needs of the residents but also realized the financial constraints placed upon the nursing homes. It is with this combined focus that we continually strive to deliver best practices to our clients. Without compromising quality and clinical protocols, PPS staff will work with facilities to find cost-saving opportunities.

Meet Our Staff

Joseph M. Calomo M.B.A., Pharm.D., R.Ph, BCMTMS

  • Chief Operating Officer
  • Dr. Calomo has served in numerous leadership roles in his career and provides a vast amount of experience to our team. He is a past Leadership Fellow through AACP, He has been the Director of Strategy for a large Chain pharmacy based in the U.S. He was the President of a Tele Pharmacy company. He has worked in almost every area of pharmacy, but most importantly as a past Faculty member and Administrator at a local College of Pharmacy, and being a Board Certified Medication Therapy Management Specialist, Dr. Calomo brings a sense of focus around innovative ways to improve the care we provide our patients.

Tony Rozzi, R.Ph, Esq

Pharmacy Manager

Tony has been a Pharmacy Manager for over 25 years. He holds a Masters in Pharmcotherapeutics as well as being a member of the Law Bar in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He has over 40 years of experience in pharmacy practice.

Lisa R. Mari

Director of Business Development

Over 15 years of experience in the pharmacy industry focusing on the workers' compensation line of business with a primary role of, business development, customer relationship management, project management, and managing the new business and existing business field staff. Ms. Mari holds a Master’s degree in business administration and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from Northeastern University and Southern New Hampshire University.

Charles Airhart, R.Ph

Charles has been a Pharmacist for 28 years. He has practiced pharmacy in a variety of settings: Retail, Hospital, IV Home Infusion, and Long term care. He has practiced in three states; Mass, New Hampshire and Indiana. Charles is currently a consultant Pharmacist at PPS. He has given presentations to clients at different areas from in-home consultation, Senior Centers/Council on Aging, Caregiver Support groups and Assisted Living Facilities.

Joanna Howes, R.Ph

Joanna has been practicing Long Term Care pharmacy for over 18 years. She is currently working as a Consultant and In House Pharmacist at PPS. She is also a member of ASCP.

Robert D'Orland, R.Ph

Practicing as a Pharmacist and Supervisor with Preferred Pharmacy Solutions for over 12 years, Robert has joined our consulting team and brings his vast experience by integrating clinical work with customer service. Robert was certified in Nuclear Pharmacy in 1984 and in Professional Compounding Centers. He is licensed in California and is dedicated to bringing a sense of clinical awareness with committed customer service to our residents and patients. He is also a Member of ASCP.

Christine Pignatiello, BSN, MHSA, NHA

Christine has served in nursing and administration within the skilled nursing facility level of care for over 25 years. As both a Registered Nurse and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, Christine is uniquely qualified to dissect and address the many challenges that present themselves within the daily operations of a skilled nursing facility.

Kieran Brennan, Pharm D.

A PharmD, with 16 years experience in high volume hospital outpatient, Kieran also has experience in mail order and long term care pharmacies.

Renee Collins, R.Ph

For the past 20 years, Renee Collins has been a Pharmacist with experience in retail, specialty and long-term care pharmacy. She has been part of the PPS family since November 2016 and takes pride in her hard work every day.

Amanda Saunders, Reg.PhP

Amanda is a billing specialist who has worked in the pharmacy field for over 10 years. She is also a Registered Pharmacy Technician in Massachusetts.

Kristen Uliano, CPhT

Billing Specialist

Registered and Certified Pharmacy Technician

She has been in pharmacy service for 19 years. In addition to managing facility and patient billing, she has done order filling, data entry, IV compounding, rejections and prior authorizations.

Kimberly Tropeano, CPhT

Billing Specialist

She has worked for Preferred Pharmacy for 12 years and has been working in long-term care for 25 years.

  • She has been with Preferred Pharmacy Solutions for 7 years and has been working in LTC Pharmacy for 21 years, specializing in medical records and pharmacy billing.
